YouTube banner size and safe area
YouTube shows the same image differently on each screen. The full file is 2560 × 1440 px (minimum 2048 × 1152 px, maximum file size 6 MB). Only the center shows everywhere, so keep your name, logo and tagline inside the 1546 × 423 px safe area.
| Screen | Visible area | What gets cropped |
|---|---|---|
| TV | 2560 × 1440 px | Nothing |
| Desktop | 2560 × 423 px | Top and bottom |
| Tablet | 1855 × 423 px | Top, bottom and sides |
| Phone (safe area) | 1546 × 423 px | Everything else |
The colored guides in the preview mark these zones: the safe area is the brightest, the others are dashed.
Facebook cover photo size and safe area
Build a Facebook cover at 851 × 315 px. Facebook displays it at 820 × 312 px on desktop and 640 × 360 px on mobile, where the sides are cropped. Keep text in the middle section, about 560 px wide.
| Where | File size | Displayed as |
|---|---|---|
| Page or profile cover | 851 × 315 px | 820 × 312 px (desktop) |
| Same cover on mobile | 851 × 315 px | 640 × 360 px, sides cropped |
Use the size menu to switch formats: the editor rescales your elements and rebuilds the template.
Make your banner in four steps
- Pick a template from the eight starters, then a color palette.
- Fill in your content: name, tagline, upload schedule, handle and icon.
- Fine-tune by hand: drag each element, change the font, add an image from your computer or an icon.
- Check the guides, then download the sharp file as a JPG (under 6 MB) or a PNG.
Your images stay in your browser while you design. The design is saved on your device and is there when you come back.
3 real-life examples
A cooking channel
“Bold” template, Sunset palette. The name “Emma’s Kitchen” fits on one line of about 1,200 px inside the 1546 px safe area. The “New video every Friday” schedule becomes an orange pill.
A Facebook page for a shop
851 × 315 px, “Centered light” template. The shop name is centered, so it stays visible when mobile crops the sides. A phone shows the middle 560 × 315 px.
A gaming channel
“Neon” template at 2560 × 1440 px, uppercase text with an outline. The tagline stays inside the 423 px useful height at the center, and the decorative circles sit at the edges where TV screens show them.
