Drop your PDF files, drag them into the order you want, and click Merge. You get one PDF with every page back to back. The merge runs in your browser, so nothing is uploaded, there is no file-count limit, and no account is needed. Handy for a loan packet, a job application, or tax paperwork.

How to merge PDF files in 3 steps

Merging copies every page of each file, one file after another, into a new document. Nothing is recompressed, so text stays selectable and images keep their original quality.

  1. Add your PDFs by dragging them in or using the button. Each file shows a thumbnail of its first page and its page count.
  2. Reorder by dragging a row up or down. On a phone, use the ↑ and ↓ arrows.
  3. Merge and download. The file downloads automatically when it is ready.

\[ \text{merged page count} = \text{pages in file} \ 1 + \text{pages in file} \ 2 + \ldots + \text{pages in file} \ n \]

File size and limits

The merged file is roughly the sum of the originals, minus a few KB when fonts or images are shared. If the total is too big to email, run the result through the Compress PDF tool.

PacketFilesPagesTotal size
Rental application5146.8 MB
Job application (resume, cover letter, transcripts)493.1 MB
Quarterly receipts12122.4 MB

Password-protected PDFs can't be merged as they are. The tool tells you so and points you to the unlock tool.

When merging PDFs is useful

  • Applications: one file for a photo ID, proof of address, and a W-2 when the portal accepts a single upload.
  • School: combine a report, its appendices, and the cover page.
  • Bookkeeping: bundle a month of invoices before sending them to your accountant.
  • Scans: join phone photos you converted with the JPG to PDF tool.

3 real-life examples

1

A rental application packet

You have 5 PDFs: photo ID (1 page), three pay stubs (3 pages), tax return (2 pages), offer letter (4 pages), and bank statement (1 page). Ordered the way the landlord asks, the result has \( 1 + 3 + 2 + 4 + 1 = \) 11 pages in one file.

2

A report with appendices

A 1-page cover, a 24-page report, and two appendices of 6 and 8 pages. After merging: \( 1 + 24 + 6 + 8 = \) 39 pages. You can split the file afterwards if you only need the appendices.

3

Twelve receipts before emailing

Twelve one-page receipts at 200 KB each add up to 2.4 MB. The merged PDF is about 2.4 MB for 12 pages, which fits easily under a 10 MB email limit.

Frequently asked questions

How do I merge PDF files into one for free?
Drop your PDFs into the box above, drag them into the order you want, and click Merge PDFs. The file downloads on its own with no sign-up and no watermark.
Can I change the page order before merging?
You can reorder whole files by dragging rows or using the arrows. To rearrange or remove pages inside one file, split it first with the Split PDF tool.
Are my documents uploaded to a server?
No. Your browser merges the files using a library loaded on this page. Nothing is uploaded or stored, which matters for IDs, pay stubs, and tax forms.
Why was my PDF rejected?
Usually the file is password-protected (unlock it first) or damaged. If it's damaged, reopen it in a PDF viewer and save a fresh copy.
Does merging lower the quality of my PDF?
No. Pages are copied as they are with no recompression, so text stays selectable and images and fonts are kept. Bookmarks and interactive form fields may not carry over.
