Which announcement size should you choose?
Three print-ready sizes, with safe margins already built in:
| Size | Dimensions | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| 5 × 7 in flat card | 127 × 178 mm | The US standard: fits an A7 envelope and prints on a 5×7 photo. |
| Folded 5 × 7 in | Two-sided sheet, folds to 5 × 7 in | Wedding announcements with details inside. |
| A5 | 5.8 × 8.3 in | Larger cards with a bigger photo. |
The PDF is exported at 300 dpi, the resolution print shops expect. For home printing, use 80 to 110 lb cardstock.
What to write on an announcement
A good announcement answers four questions at a glance: who, what, when and where.
- Wedding: names of the couple, date, ceremony time, venue and address, RSVP date.
- Birth: baby's name, birth date, often weight and length, and the parents' names.
- Christening: the child's name, date, church or venue, and any reception that follows.
Mail wedding invitations 6 to 8 weeks ahead, and send birth announcements within the first month or two.
How it works
Design for free, with no account: choose a template, edit the wording, colors, font and photo. The preview is low resolution and watermarked. Downloading the final high-definition file without the watermark is a one-time payment. Your photo stays on your device while you design.
3 real-life examples
Wedding announcement as a folded card
Choose "Classic gold" and the folded 5 × 7 in card. The cover shows "Emily & James" and the date. Inside you list the 4:00 p.m. ceremony, the venue address and the RSVP date of May 1.
Birth announcement with a photo
Choose "Sky blue" and a flat 5 × 7 in card. Add Oliver's photo in a circle, then write "Born March 14, 2027", 7 lb 8 oz and 20 in. The parents' names go at the bottom.
A simple save the date
"Minimal black and white" on A5: the couple's names, "June 19, 2027", "Napa Valley, California" and "Formal invitation to follow." Guests traveling from far away get six months' notice.
