Drop your photo, then pick a width or height in pixels, a percentage, or a social media size (Instagram 1080 × 1080, YouTube 1280 × 720 and more). Proportions stay locked by default. Everything runs in your browser, and you can resize several images at once.

Three ways to resize

  • By pixels: set the width, the height, or both. With "keep proportions" on, the other side is calculated for you; if you fill in both, the image fits inside that box without distortion.
  • By percentage: 50% halves each side, which cuts the pixel count to a quarter.
  • Social media: the exact size a platform expects. You choose how the image fits it: cropped from the center, whole with colored bars, or stretched.

\[ \text{new height} = \text{new width} \times \left( \dfrac{\text{original height}}{\text{original width}} \right) \]

When shrinking by more than half, the tool works in several passes, which keeps more sharpness than one abrupt reduction.

Platforms tweak their recommendations from time to time, so check the size inside the app before an important campaign.

Pixels and printing

For a sharp print, plan on 300 pixels per inch (ppi). Photos meant for screens do not need that much.

Print sizePixels at 300 ppi
4 × 6 in1,200 × 1,800
5 × 7 in1,500 × 2,100
8 × 10 in2,400 × 3,000
Letter (8.5 × 11 in)2,550 × 3,300

Enlarging a small image does not add detail; it just gets blurry. Always start from the largest original you have.

3 real-life examples

1

Cut a 4,032 × 3,024 px photo in half

Choose "By percentage" and 50%. The result is 2,016 × 1,512 px, a quarter of the pixels. That is already a generous size for any screen.

2

A square photo for Instagram

Take the same 4:3 photo, pick "Instagram square" and the "fill and crop" fit. The tool keeps the central 3,024 × 3,024 px square (504 px trimmed off each side), then scales it down to 1,080 × 1,080 px.

3

A 1,920 × 1,080 screenshot for a website

Enter 1,280 for the width with proportions locked. The height works out to \( 720 \, \text{px} \ \left( \dfrac{1{,}280 \times 1{,}080}{1{,}920} \right) \), and the image is not distorted.

Frequently asked questions

How do I resize an image without stretching it?
Keep "keep proportions" checked and fill in only one side: the other is calculated automatically. Avoid the "stretch" option in the social media presets.
How do I resize a photo to a specific pixel size?
Drop in the photo, choose "By pixels" and enter the width or height you want. The result shows its new dimensions and is ready to download.
What size should an Instagram photo be?
1,080 × 1,080 px for a square, 1,080 × 1,350 px for a 4:5 portrait and 1,080 × 1,920 px for a story or Reel. The preset in this tool applies them in one click.
Can I resize multiple images at once?
Yes, up to 40. The same settings apply to every image and you get a single zip file back.
Does enlarging an image make it blurry?
A little, yes: no tool can invent detail that is not in the original. It is better to start from a large image and shrink it than the other way around.
