How shoe sizes are calculated
Each system follows its own logic. The European size is counted in Paris points (2/3 of a cm), with 1.5 cm of toe room added. US and UK sizes count in barleycorns, one third of an inch (0.847 cm). A men's US size is one higher than the UK size, and a women's US size is 1.5 higher than a men's US size for the same foot.
